MediaTakeOut.com received a report that R Kelly may be under investigated by the Illinois police for committing statutory rape.
Heres whats going down so far. We spoke with a person close to R Kelly who claims that police came to R Kellys home looking for evidence that he is in a relationship with a 17 year old girl.
And according to the allegation, R Kelly and the girl are engaged in a romantic relationship and, while the age of consent in Illinois is 17, police need to establish that R Kelly and the woman were never engaged in any inappropriate sexual activity before her 17th birthday.
Since out initial report, the Olympia Fields Police Department has officially DENIED that R Kelly is under investigation.
But that's not where the story ends, the National Enquirer is reporting today that a detective with the department, Det. Michael Mayden, confirmed that an investigation is "ongoing" into R Kelly and that authorities plan on questioning R Kelly when he returns from South Africa. The National Enquirer is also reporting that they spoke to a "family friend" to R Kelly who is claiming that the investigation is regarding a relationship with a 17 year old girl.
So what's up - is he in a relationship, or isn't he? Is he under investigation, or isn't he?
UPDATE - According to the Olympia Fields police, R Kelly was investigated and they concluded that no criminal activity occurred.
